Four Naxals, one of them carrying a reward on his head, were arrested from separate places in Chhattisgarh's Maoist-hit Narayanpur district, police said.
The cadres, Sonsai (35), Kheduram Yadav (50) and Ganesh Nuruti (40), were nabbed from Naraynpur police station limits by a joint team of STF (Special Task Force) and district force on Thursday, Narayanpur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) OP Sharma, told PTI.
Following a tip-off about the presence of rebels in the restive Narayanpur police station region, security personnel were mobilised on a search operation, located around 400 kms away from here, on Wednesday, the ASP said. During the operation, Sonsai was nabbed from his native Kundala village, while the two other ultras were held at Kihkad village, he said.
As per the information, Sonsai was working as Janatana Sarkar member of CPI (Maoist) in Kundala since 1988 and also headed the Chetna Natya Manch during this period, Sharma said, adding he was carrying a reward of Rs 2,000 on his head. The other ultras, Kheduram and Ganesh were associated with the movement in Kohkameta village in Bastar.
All three were involved in several incidents of crime, including loot, arson, murder and attacks on police party, the ASP added.
In another incident, a naxalite- Vihwanath Yadav (40) was apprehended from the Narayanpur town Wednesday. According to the ASP, Yadav was rounded up near Sonpur road under Narayanpur police station limits on suspicion. Later, he admitted to being involved in the outlawed movement during his interrogation. He was involved in several offences of attacks on the police party, kidnapping and killings, and played an important role in arranging essential commodities for Naxals and holding meetings for senior leaders, Sharma said.
