Mumbai: It's a blast from the past for at least three films, which will hit the marquee shortly and all of these are films that have been in the making for over five years each.
Bollywood's shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan will be seen looking many years younger in S Ramanathan's Zamaanat, a drama the superstar first began shooting for in 1995.
The film also stars Karisma Kapoor who began working on it when she was still dating Junior Bachchan.
Says Amitabh Bachchan, "The time difference may look a little deliberate but it's purely circumstantial. In the film, we are actually supposed to show a time difference of almost 30 years and this will give it a natural feel."
Then there is the Salman Khan-Shilpa Shetty romantic comedy Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar that has been ready, but in the waiting for over two years now.
The film was delayed because the producer ran into financial problems and now that it is ready to hit the big screen, Salman Khan is not too hopeful about it's future at the box office.
"The film has a very bleak future. In fact I don't see any future in the film," says he.
Honesty may be the best policy for Salman, but others seem a bit disconnected from reality.
Take for example, the cast of Jaane Hoga Kya, a sci-fi thriller with the theme of human cloning. Starring Aftab Shivdasani, Bipasha Basu and Preeti Jhangiani, the movie was launched over five years ago.
But Aftab is hopeful that the film will find audience and says that the reason it took so long to reach the theatre was because the post production took a lot of time due to the graphics involved in the film.
Traditionally, long delayed movies have met with a sad fate in Bollywood, some examples being Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Prem and Taj Mahal. An exception to the rule is the K Asif's Mughal-e-Azam which took more than ten years to complete but emerged a blockbuster.
However, only time and audiences will chart the fate of Zamaanat, Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar and Jaane Hoga Kya.
