Gang attacks couple

BANGALORE: A couple were attacked by a gang of ten miscreants on Sunday night. The incident was reported at Saraswathipuram in Thalaghattapura police station limits. The victims have been identified as Venkatesh and Nagamma. According to the police, Venkatesh who runs a private travel agency had employed Pradeep as a driver in his agency. The latter used to visit his owner’s house regularly and fell in love with the neighbour’s daughter. The girl’s parents learnt about this and asked Venkatesh to tell Pradeep to stay away from their daughter. But Pradeep allegedly eloped with the girl a month ago.The police said that the girl’s parents mistook Venkatesh as the culprit. Her father Basavaraj along with ten other people came in two vehicles to Venkatesh’s house in the night. They dragged the couple out of the house and attacked them with sticks and weapons. “The couple sustained serious injuries on their hands,” the police added.The couple has been admitted to a private hospital near Sarakki. The accused are absconding after the incident. Thalaghattapura police has registered a case and investigations are on.
