Madurai: The Department of Posts is thinking of delivering the Tirunelveli Halwa (a delicacy), famous in Tamil Nadu, through post to people, a top official said on Friday.
"We have to work out an arrangement as the halwa is manufactured by Private firms," Tamil Nadu Chief Post Master General Radhika Doraiswamy told reporters in Madurai.
The department's scheme to deliver the famous Panchamritham (crushed mixture of bananas and jaggery) of Palani Sri Dhandayutha Paniswamy temple in Madurai was a success with 1,20,000 people seeking the prasadam through posts, she said.
The scheme to help devotees get holy water, Koti Theertham, from Rameswaram was also successful.
Radhika Doraiswamy also said the State level Philately Exhibition would be held in Chennai in February next.
