ROURKELA: Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadei on Sunday admitted to the prevailing industrial slowdown in Odisha, but exuded confidence to bounce back.He was here to address the valedictory of the year-long golden jubilee celebrations of the Rourkela Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI).Ghadei said for various global and local reasons the industrial scenario in Odisha was hit, but adequate measures were put in place to regain the momentum. Banking on the State’s mineral resources, he mooted further augmentation of industrialisation.Ghadei said when BJD came to power, the revenue of the State was Rs 2,869 crore which jumped to Rs 19,600 crore now.He lauded RCCI’s role in economic development of Odisha and said acting on RCCI’s suggestion tax on fabrication items was reduced.Nayak reiterated that the Government would ensure rapid urban development and demanded augmentation of railway infrastructure in the State, Sundargarh in particular, to boost industrial growth. Ghadei also took a dig on the Centre for trying to impose NCTC and ignoring State’s economic interests.Among others, RCCI president SL Singhal, former president Subrata Patnaik and a host of senior members and entrepreneurs and industrialists were present.Later in the day, Ghadei accompanied by Urban Development Minister Sarada Nayak, Rourkela municipal chairperson Rashmibala Mishra and vice-chairman RN Mishra laid foundation stones for a road project at Basanti Colony and road expansion work on the Mahatab Road.
