Girls outshine boys in ICSE, ISC exams
CISCE secretary also said that the overall performance has improved.

New Delhi: Girls outshone boys in the Class 10 and 12 results announced by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Tuesday. The pass percentage for the Class 10 (ICSE) exams was 98.04 and for Class 12 (ISC) it was 97.04.

In Class 12, a whopping 98.23 percent girls cleared the examinations.

Similarly, 98.63 percent girls passed the Class 10 exam, followed by 97.45 percent boys.

Additional Secretary of CISCE, G Arathoon, said that compared to last year the overall performance of students has improved this year by 0.08 per cent.

Last year, 97.96 per cent of candidates appearing for the Class 10 exams were successful and the pass percentage for Class 12 was 96.96 per cent.

Janki Kirit Sheth of Sulochana Devi Singhania School, Thane, and Shruti Singh of St Joseph Convent, Varanasi, topped the Class 10 exams with both scoring 98.6 per cent marks this year.

In Class 12, Gaurav Sood from The Doon School, Dehradun, topped by scoring 99 per cent.

The ISC examination has been conducted in 53 subjects.

This year, nearly 150,000 students appeared for the examinations - 101,998 for Class 10, and 47,977 for Class 12.

Of the 57,876 boys who took the Class 10 exam, 55,874 were successful. Among girls 44,125 cleared the exams of the 44,732 girls who sat for it.

Of the four regions, the western region has the best pass percentage (99.28) in Class 10 followed by southern region with 99.19 per cent.
