BHUBANESWAR: Goods running into a million rupees were gutted after a fire broke out in the godown of a transportation firm at Laxmi Sagar area during wee hours of Thursday. No one was hurt. It took fire fighters almost five hours to put out the fire. The godown of the firm, Great Indian Transport, is located at Haldipadia under Laxmi Sagar police limits. The fire was reported at 12.30 am and a fire-fighting team rushed to the spot immediately. The godown had a variety of goods waiting to be transported and the fire reduced them to ashes. Whatever could escape the flames turned waste because of the water used to douse the flames. According to Fire Officer BB Das, the total loss could be estimated at close to Rs. 10 lakh. The fire is believed to have started from a short circuit.
