New Delhi: Google has announced the Doodle 4 Google competition for 2012 with the theme of "Unity in Diversity". The company invites all children between the ages of 5 to 16 years to share their creativity by doodling on the Google logo. The winning Doodle will be featured on the Google (India) HomePage on Children's Day (November 14). The final winner of the competition will be announced on November 6.
The participants will be grouped into three different categories: Group 1 comprising students from class 1 to 3; Group 2 with students from class 4 to 6; and Group 3 with students from class 7 to 10. The new thing that we are doing this year is to divide India into 4 regions - North, South, East and West. We will then have three shortlists from every region across each of the three groups. The first round of entries will go through preliminary judging, post which 12 entries will be announced based on a selection by a panel consisting of independent judges. All chosen entries will be exhibited for public voting, and based on the number of votes, one winner from each group will be selected. The Jury along with the original Google Doodler will then choose the final winning Doodle from all the finalists.
Children studying in class 1-10 can participate in the competition. All participants are required to submit necessary details along with their doodle mentioned in the form on the website (www.google.co.in/doodle4google). The submission may be either individually or through the school. The school route is valid only if the school is organising to collect and submit the doodles on behalf of their students.
The last date for submissions is October, 23 2012. All the 12 finalists will get a tablet and a Google kit. According to Google, last year, the company received over a 1,00,000 entries.
