BHUBANESWAR: The Government on Wednesday decided to provide financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 to each flood-affected village for cleaning and sanitation. This was decided at meeting on flood chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here. The assistance will be made from the calamity relief fund, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister SN Patro told mediapersons. Naveen on Wednesday visited Kanighai area of Bhandaripokhari block of Bhadrak district. He also made an aerial survey of the worst-affected Bari block in Jajpur district, Aul and Rajkanika blocks of Kendrapara districts. He directed the officials to open more free kitchens in areas where water has receded. Emphasising on sanitation in the affected areas, he directed the Health Department to send more medical teams to take measures to prevent outbreak of diarrhoea and cholera which are more common after flood. Chief Secretary BK Patnaik, Special Relief Commissioner PK Mohapatra and secretaries of other concerned departments were also present.
