Government to approach garbage menace in a scientific manner: CM

The government will approach the garbage problem in the state in a scientific manner with the participation of the public, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said.Addressing the 66th Independence Day celebrations at the Central Stadium here on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that environment, politics and development would not be considered separate entities from now on, but as a single unit.The government hopes to generate one lakh jobs through the entrepreneurship mission and three lakh jobs through the additional skill development programmes, Chandy said.The government was committed to bringing in transparency in its activities and ensuring prompt services to the public. Incorporation of IT and the Right to Services Act which will come into force from November 1 will go a long way in this direction, he said.The Emerging Kerala summit planned for next month will prove a critical step forward in the fields of  infrastructure and investment. The government will exploit all available sources including wind and solar energy to bridge the gap between demand and supply of power, Chandy said.The Chief Minister also announced an increase of Rs 1000 in the freedom fighters~~~ pension.
