BANGALORE: Governor H R Bhardwaj hosted a high tea at the sprawling Raj Bhavan Gardens on the occasion of 65th Independence Day on Monday. In the Governor’s ‘At Home’ event, several dignitaries including Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, his wife Datty, Opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah, High Court Chief Justice J S Khehar, Chief Secretary S V Ranganath, senior officials of both civil, police and military personnel were also present. The Governor exchanged pleasantries and mingled with the guests for over one hour.The presence of the Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda along with his wife Datty was significant as in the previous occasion on January 26 the then chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and his cabinet colleagues stayed away from attending the high tea hosted by the Governor following his decision to grant permission to prosecute the chief minister in the alleged corruption charges sought by two advocates. The Governor had permitted to prosecute Yeddyurappa overriding the recommendations of the Cabinet on the matter.
