BHUBANESWAR: The State Government will promote projects having export potential and help support the growth of micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).A number of such projects identified by the Government in consultation with various professional organisations and consultancy agencies include an Aluminium Park at Angul as a joint venture between IDCO and NALCO. This park will support a number of downstream industries using molten alumina which will be made available from smelter of NALCO. The Park is proposed to be developed over 400 acres of land.Presiding over a high-level meting here on Tuesday, Chief Secretary BK Patnaik emphasised on development of sector- specific industrial parks, mega food parks, incubation centres and IT parks across the State.The meeting was told that pre-project activities have been taken up for putting up a dedicated plastic park at Paradip over an area of 150 acres where feedstock required for downstream industries will come from the petro-complex of the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).An incubation centre in information technology has also been proposed by IDCO in the notified SEZ (info-valley) area at Goudakashipur, Khurda, over an area of 15,000 sq ft for MSMEs and BPOs with pug and play facilities. Other important projects identified are integrated textile park with testing laboratory and certification centre on the outskirts of the city, mega food park at Rayagada, special economic zone at Paradip, IT towers at Mancheswar, ITES corporate towers at Chandaka, floriculture export centre, dry spice technology and skill development centre, hardware and electronics park in the city.  Marine food processing park near Bhadrak with two fishing harbours and improvement of infrastructure of existing fish landing centres have also been proposed. Other special projects identified are World Trade Centre at Bhubaneswar and Special Investment Region in Dhamra Port area. These projects have ample opportunities for emergence of micro small and medium scale industries and export potential.The newly-created MSME Department was asked to prepare detail project plans with specific projection of outputs. It was also decided that a team of experts under the leadership of Special Secretary Panchanana Das will present these projects in the regional meeting proposed to be convened by the Centre for their inclusion in Assistance to States for Developing Export Infrastructure and Allied Activities (ASIDE) scheme.The meeting revealed that the State had achieved a record export performance in 2010-11 with export of different products worth Rs 17,098 crore.While the total export of the State was Rs 12,837 crore in 2006-07, it increased to Rs 14,644 crore in 2008-09. Major exports include minerals, electronics, metallurgical, engineering, chemicals and allied products. Handloom and textiles, agriculture and forest produces, pharmaceuticals, handicrafts and gems and jewellery are the other export items.
