BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday admitted a plea regarding the case wherein a student of M S Ramaiah College had committed suicide earlier this year after the college accused her of cheating during an exam.
In the writ petition, Hanuman Singh Shekhawat has contended that his daughter Durgesh Kanwar Shekhawat was falsely accused of indulging in malpractice during the internal evaluation for forensic medicine and was then openly humiliated on December 18 past year. Durgesh was subsequently suspended from the college and was asked to vacate the college hostel.Unable to bear the humiliation, Durgesh had committed suicide on March 23 this year. Her father suspects she was falsely implicated and has filed a complaint about it in Sanjaynagar police station. He has requested court to order CBI or any other competent agency to probe the issue.

Justice Mohan Santhana Gouder admitted the petition and issued notices to Union of India, Medical Education Department, M S Ramaiah College, Bangalore Police Commissioner and others. ENS
