BANGALORE: The High Court on Wednesday rejected the interim application challenging the rule which makes speed governors mandatory in all public transport vehicles, including goods vehicles.The Federation of Karnataka Lorry Owners and Agents Association and others filed an interim application to stay the government notification on making speed governors mandatory in all public transport vehicles. The petitioners stated that the notification was issued under Section 188 of the Central Motor Vehicle Rules. As per the notification issued on September 17, all new vehicles under the category have to be fitted with speed governors from November 2. As far as old vehicles are concerned, June 30, 2012 is the deadline. Justice S Abdul Nazeer submitted that an interim stay cannot be granted on government notification.
