THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The inclusion of State in the proposed high-speed rail corridor, the completion of the development of Kochuveli terminal, doubling of the Kottayam and Alappuzha lines and allotment of a dozen trains which includes the already promised trains in the last Budget will be the projects that will top the wish list of Kerala at the high-level meeting with Union Minister for Railways Dinesh Trivedi here on Monday. The meeting assumes significance in the backdrop of Kerala making its stand clear that the Centre had totally neglected Kerala with regard to the Railway development. The meeting convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will be attended by Trivedi and also by Union Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa, Chairman of Railway Board Vinay Mittal, Financial Commissioner Pompa Babbar, board members A P Mishra, Kulbhushan, and Sanjiv Handa. General Manager of Southern Railway Deepak Krishnan and Divisional Railway Manager of Thiruvananthapuram Rajiv Dutt Sharma and Divisional Railway Manager of Palakkad S K Raina will also attend the meet. “The state will present before the high-level team the pending projects which needs to be approved by the Central Government and the completion of the existing projects on a war-footing. Other than the high-speed corridor, completion of the Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) sheds in Kollam, funds for the terminal at Kottayam and Nemom, allocation of `12 crore for the completion of the development of Kochuveli terminal and doubling of the Kanyakumari-Thiruvananthapuram line will be presented at the meeting,” said a source. The State Government also will appraise the Central Government team that the State Government had given the administrative sanction for the Kochi Metro Rail project and will discuss the project in the backdrop of Planning Commission giving the nod for the project. A special meeting was convened on Sunday at the Divisional railway manager’s office ahead of the visit of the high-level delegation.
