New Delhi: Indra Nooyi, the Chennai-born Indian woman who has become the most powerful businesswoman in the US, has decided to return to the land of her birth for her post-retirement life.
Or so it seems from the fact that the Chief Executive of Pepsico has booked a sprawling apartment worth Rs 6.5 crore in the Chennai Poes Garden.
If she does come, Nooyi will become a neighbour of J Jayalalithaa and Rajnikant.
Born in Chennai, Nooyi had graduated in science from the Madras Christian College. After doing her MBA from IIM-C, she did her graduation in management from Yale University. The Fortune magazine recently named her among the 50 most powerful women in America.
Nooyi, now 51, is also the first woman chief executive of food and beverages giant Pepsico Inc. She is an avid fan of 'Carnatic' music and said to like visiting Chennai in December-January when it hosts the annual classical music festival.
A nice of renowned Carnatic singer Aruna Sairam, Nooyi booked the apartment in Chennai days before her birthday on October 28.
The 4,100 sq ft apartment is part of a residential project promoted by builder KGEYES Residency Private Ltd. It comes at a price of Rs 16,000 per sq ft.
