KOCHI: The Army Welfare Housing Organisation (AWHO) has launched a housing project for Army Jawans at Vaduthala in Kochi. The foundation stone of the project with 76 houses was laid by Major General S Narasimhan, Managing Director of AWHO on Monday.The Army Welfare Housing Organisation was set up as a society by the Indian Army in 1978 to build affordable housing for retired and serving Army men and Army widows. The project run on ‘no profit no loss basis’ has executed 42 such projects in different cities across the country. In Kerala, AWHO projects are being executed in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi,Kannur and Kozhikode. AWHO will also launch a project with 264 residences in Vyttila shortly. Brigadier S K Khanna Chief Engineer Naval Works was also present on the occasion.
