New Delhi: The eagerness to get a separate Telangana state seems to be gaining more foothold among the citizens.
A youth disrupted the speech of President A P J Abdul Kalam at the Osmania University in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Kalam was addressing students of the university on Thursday morning when the young man, identified by the police as a member of the Telangana Vidyarthi Parishad, shouted slogans like "Jai Telangana".
The youth was whisked away by security personnel seconds later and taken to the Osmania University police station for questioning
The President was about to conclude his speech when the incident occurred.
The Osmania University campus has traditionally been a stronghold of the Telangana statehood movement and has witnessed protests by students and faculty members in support of the movement for a separate state.
The Telengana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) had in August last year pulled out of the UPA when the government failed to fulfill it’s election promise of a creation a separate Telengana state.
