Hyderabad: Unidentified persons set fire to as many as six cars, belonging to a businessman and his family, in a communally sensitive area in Hyderabad early on Monday morning, police said. The incident, caught on CCTV cameras, took place near Ghansi Bazar under Charminar police station limits.
The footage showed at least four persons on two motorcycles torching the cars, belonging to businessman Kiran Kumar Agarwal and his relatives, at around 03.20 am before fleeing the scene, they said.
A case has been filed and investigations are being carried out, police said, adding that it was still not clear if the incident had a communal angle to it. Old City areas of the state capital have witnessed communal clashes over the past fortnight.
