KOCHI: The special investigation team (SIT) probing the ice cream parlour sex scandal case against Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty and his brother-in-law K A Rauf, which was registered based on the revelations by the latter, filed its final report before the High Court on Monday.The report was submitted in a sealed cover on a petition filed by Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan seeking a CBI probe into the case. A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice P R Ramachandra Menon adjourned the case till March 6.Appearing for the state, Advocate-General K P Dandapani submitted two copies of the report and the case diary in a sealed cover. Dandapani submitted that 142 witnesses were examined in connection with the case and that the investigation was over.Though petitioner’s counsel advocate D Anilkumar asked for a copy of the final report, the court declined. “The final report under section 173 of CrPC has been filed before court. The High Court has been monitoring the case and will have to examine the report. It should be ensured that the investigation was fair and proper,” the petitioner said. SIT chief ADGP (Crime) Vinson M Paul, Thrissur Police Commissioner P Vijayan, SP Anoop Kuruvila John and DySP Jaison K Abraham were present in the court.The probe was ordered by the previous LDF government following the allegations made by K A Rauf. The case is that Kunhalikutty and Rauf had entered into a criminal conspiracy with several others for excluding the former from the ice cream parlour case registered at Nadakkavu police station in Kozhikode.The duo had allegedly undermined the process of investigation as well as the trial by influencing the witnesses as well as the judiciary.
