Dosa is one of the staple dishes in South India. People often consume it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It can be found in South India at every corner of the street at a stall selling varieties of dosa. Similarly, there is a shop in Vijayapura City of Chikmagalur (Karnataka) that sells 30 varieties of dosa. They are made to cater to different customers and their tastes. The shop is named Dosa Adda, which is owned by a man named Rakesh. It is located on the food street. He has been running this shop for almost four years. He is famous as Dosa Rakesh. In the evening, customers flood his shop with their attendance and preferences. He has 30 varieties of dosa such as Masala Dosa, Butter Dosa, Paneer Dosa, Ghee Dosa, Pav Bhaji Dos, Szechuan Dosa and many others. In this long list of dosas, one which attracts the customers the most is Pizza Dosa. The combination dish of the Italian cuisine and South Indian delicacy profits the most to Rakesh.
Rakesh makes the pizza dosa in minutes, contrary to the time taken for the pizza. The process is almost similar to masala dosas, but the only difference is the absence of the potato in it. While talking to Local18, Rakesh prepares the pizza dosa and showcases the recipe of one. He first pours the dosa batter on the pan. It is followed by a mix of Szechuan, Mayonnaise and red chutney. He then mixes it with a scapula. He then grinds the cheese and adds the corn. After some time, he serves the pizza dosa on the plate and gives it to the customer.
There are three varieties of this pizza dosa: Normal, Paneer and Szechuan Dosa. The pizza dosa is for Rs 120. The weekends witness a huge surge of crowds for pizza dosa.
