In the wake of reports of several parts of the country being put on alert to avert any terror attack, the Army Chief on Wednesday assured the nation that the Army is fully prepared to tackle any challenge to the national security.
"I assure everyone that the Army is fully prepared to deal with any threats to the national security," Army chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag said.
"Increasingly the security environment facing the nation is becoming more complex and dynamic. I have told all army commanders to do a security audit. In our efforts to fastrack technological progress, a new Army design bureau is being set up," he added.
While Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said that the enemy must be made to feel the pain they inflict on us, the Army Chief refused to comment on the same. It is not right for me to make a comment on this but the Indian Army is ready and willing to follow whatever the government commands," he said.
Speaking about the recently conducted combat operations in Pathankot, the Army Chief dismissed reports that there was any lack of coordination between the forces. "All forces worked with good coordination. It was a good operation. To ensure less casualties we had to take time to complete the operation," he claimed.
