Indians' loyalty in Malaysian govt shaken: Minister
Samy Vellu of Malaysian Indian Cong admits govt hasn't been considerate.

New Delhi: A Malaysian Indian minister on Thursday admitted his community's loyalty to the country’s government had been shaken.

Samy Vellu of the Malaysian Indian Congress also admitted that the government had failed to resolve the concerns of ethnic Indians.

His comments came in the wake of continued protests over the detention of five leaders of the Hindu Rights Action Force.

Vellu said there were Indians who began questioning why the issues raised by the community had not been resolved by the government.

They are being held under the internal security act after organising mass demonstrations against the government.

Sixteen ethnic Indians shaved their heads as a mark of their protest and later marched to a Hindu temple carrying posters of Mahatma Gandhi.

The protesters gathered at the Batu Caves Hindu temple compound and offered prayers for the early release of the Hindu Rights Action Front (Hindraf) leaders held at a detention camp in Kamunting, about 200 km from here, under the Internal Security Act, which allows authorities to hold people without trial for a minimum period of two years.
