New Delhi: The Delhi Police have finalised its report on the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot fixing case and will file a chargesheet on Monday. Police have reportedly named underworld dons Dawood Ibrahim and Chotta Shakeel in the chargesheet saying they virtually controlled spot fixing in the cricket league.
Sources have told CNN IBN that the three accused Rajasthan Royals players - S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan - have also been named in the chargesheet. The trio are likely to be framed under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), sources added. The other 29 accused in the case have been framed under MCOCA and IPC respectively.
The three players of Rajasthan Royals along with 11 bookies, were arrested from Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Delhi during the IPL-6 in May.
Another 15 people were arrested from different parts of the country later. Twenty-one accused in the case, including Sreesanth and Chavan, have been granted bail by a court, while the others, including Chandila are in judicial custody.
Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar had earlier said that he would like the chargesheet in the Spot-fixing case to be filed before he hangs up his boots. Kumar demits office on July 31.
