Irula women rape case: Five cops suspended

CHENNAI: Five policemen were suspended in connection with the rape of four women of the Irula community in Villupuram district on November 22.On Monday, Inspector General of Police, North Zone, C Sylendrababu ordered the suspension of Thirukovilur Inspector Srinivasan, special SI Ramanathan, head constable Dhanasekar, constable   Karthikeyan and constable Bhakthavatsalam. On November 22, four women, including a pregnant woman and a minor girl—all from the same family— lodged a complaint with the SP, alleging that they were raped by four policemen in a grove near Thirukovilur.
