Jaana Pehchana: Sachin's nostalgic memory trip
Jaana Pehchana: Sachin's nostalgic memory trip
Sachin Pilgaonkar's 'Jaana Pehchana' is his debut film as a director in the Hindi film industry.

New Delhi: Those who have seen the 1978 film 'Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se', can easily remind the climax, where the heroine of the film Ranjeeta dies and leaves the protagonist Sachin alone.

This week's release 'Jaana Pehchana' continues the same story thread. The only difference is that the latest part of the story begins after thirty two years of the first part.

'Jaana Pehchana' has Arun Mathur, played by Sachin Pilgaonkar again, in the middle, who has become a successful entrepreneur after so many years, but has not forgotten his first and the last love Lily, played by Ranjeeta in the earlier version.

An island in himself, Arun amuses Asha, a celebrated writer, who wants to pen down Arun's biography. Her continuous efforts break the artificial mental shield of Arun and she starts writing his life story.

One day she reaches to a chapter which needs to incorporate details about the personal life of Arun Mathur. Much to her surprise, Asha finds that Lily's face resembles too much with her own.

This gives a twist in the tale and Asha understands what pain she has caused to Arun unwillingly.

Yes, you guessed it right.

Only Ranjeeta is playing Asha in 'Jaana Pehchana'.

The film is produced under the banner of Rajshri Films, with which Sachin has an old association.

Sachin grew up as an actor under the flagship of Rajshri via films as 'Geet Gaata Chal', 'Gopalkrishna' and 'Nadiya Ke Paar', apart from 'Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se'.

He is no new to direction also. So far Sachin has done 16 films as the director, with 'Ideachi Kalpana' being the latest one.

However, Sachin had never tried his hands at Hindi films before 'Jaana Pehchana'.

Old Rajshri loyalist music composer Ravindra Jain is also returning with 'Jaana Pehchana'. Known for his melodious music in 'Chitchor', 'Chor Machaye Shor', 'Geet Gaata Chal' and several other films and TV shows, Jain is a patron of raag based songs.

'Jaana Pehchana' is not expected to deviate much from the same tried and tasted Rajshri line of traditional family entertainer. However, the pair of Sachin and Ranjeeta can create nostalgia about those late 70's days.

Sachin's grip on comic scenes and Ranjeeta's experience can make 'Jaana Pehchana' a good watch.

The film will also be benefited by the exclusion of 'Mausam' from September 16 release list. Without any big film around, 'Jaana Pehchana' and 'Rivaaz', which is also releasing on September 16, are bound to grab more audiences than their initial expectations.

What's your reaction?
