PAYAKARAOPETA: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy said that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would have to face a jail term of 14 years, if the charges levelled against him were proved in the illegal assets case.Kiran Kumar Reddy was campaigning in Payakaraopeta Assembly segment in Visakhapatnam district on Friday. Addressing a gathering at panchayat office centre here, the chief minister made it clear that Jagan was behind the bars as he did wrong deeds during the regime of YS Rajasekhara Reddy to amass wealth through illegal means.According to the chief minister, Jagan has not committed a petty crime to come out of jail. The Kadapa MP has resorted to several financial irregularities during his father’s regime. If the charges levelled against him were proved, Jagan would be imprisoned for at least 14 years, Kiran Reddy said.Pooh-poohing the claim of Vijayamma that Jagan’s arrest was unfair, the chief minister criticised that the YSRCP chief either went to jail for fighting against the problems of the farmers and students or was behind the bars for the cause of poor. Jagan was imprisoned as he had transferred illegal money into his companies, Kiran Reddy added. The chief minister wondered how Vijayamma and others, who lauded the CBI as an impartial investigating agency when it gave a clean chit to Jagan in Paritala Ravi’s murder case, were pointing a finger towards the CBI in the illegal assets case. Before going to Payakaraopeta, the chief minister, in a media conference at Swarnandhra College, said some political parties were tarnishing the image of Congress by levelling allegations against it, adding that people had lost faith in TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, who is craving for power.
