HYDERABAD: YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will undertake a 48hour fast on January 10 in Armoor in Nizamabad district in support of Telangana farmers and agricultural labourers. A decision to this effect was taken by the YSRC at a meeting of party seniors here on Tuesday.Speaking to reporters later, party leader Bajireddy Govardhan Reddy said that Jagan has decided to undertake the fast to solve problems of the farmers since chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has failed to solve their problems.Farmers were not getting remunerative prices and hence resorting to suicides, he said adding that the price of turmeric per quintal was Rs 17,000 during the YSR regime and now it has plummeted to Rs 4,000.Govardhan Reddy refuted the allegations of TDP that his party had a secret understanding with the TRS. If the party's decision not to field candidates for bypolls in Telangana is construed as a secret understanding with the TRS, then why did the TDP not field its candidate in the recent Banswada bypoll. Was it also an understanding between the TDP and TRS, he asked.
