New Delhi: The Kandahar hijack ghost is not ready to leave senior BJP leader and former external affairs minister Jaswant Singh.
In his book A Call To Honour Jaswant had written that the trip to Kandahar to secure the release of the IC-814 passengers and hand over the three terrorists demanded by the hijackers have been one of his most embarrassing moment.
However, in an exclusive chat with CNN-IBN's Bhupendra Chaubey former foregin secretary Lalit Mansingh told that Jaswant Singh should not have accompanied the terrorists to Kandahar.
"It was a decision that we could have avoided. The reason being that the team wanted some one senior to be there when the passengers were released. They were not asking for a Cabinet Minister to be there," Mansingh said.
When asked if Jaswant Singh could have very well lived without going to Kandahar, Mansingh said, "Well it could have been any other senior officer."
