TIRUCHY: Announcing a slew of welfare measures to her constituency Srirangam, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, congratulated the people for not succumbing to the money power of the DMK.Listing out new schemes and welfare projects for the temple town, she said a check dam would be built across the Cauvery at Muthrasanallur at a cost of Rs 32 crore.A horticulture college and research centre for women at a cost of Rs 40 crore would be set up at Navalur Kuttapattu in Manigandam union, she said and added that Rs ten crore would be allocated this year itself.Each year 40 students would be admitted to this centre. The substation at Srirangam Pettaivaithalai and TV Koil would be upgraded with an expenditure of Rs 39.5 crore.A new building for the GH at the island town would be constructed at a cost of Rs two crore and the building would accomodate units for dialysis, ENT, opthamology and psychiatry units. A mortuary with modern cooling facilities would be constructed with an expenditure of Rs 19.44 lakh.
