J&K: Miraculous escape for six families as landslide strikes houses

Srinagar: Close to six families had a miraculous escape when a landslide struck their houses in Rajwar area of Handwara tehsil. Four inmates got injured and dozens of cattleheads perished in the midnight landslide that buried nearly 40 people.

Villagers heard screams and later rescued women and kids trapped in the debris.

Heavy snows and rainfall has precipitated many avalanches and mudslides in valley's remote and hilly areas.
