Jammu: Two people have been arrested for allegedly gangraping a 13-year-old girl in Kishtwar. The minor was allegedly abducted by two youth when she had stepped out of her home. They took her to an isolated spot and raped her.
According to district officials, the incident took place on Monday evening in the Drabshalla belt of the district when the teenager had gone to a field near her house to dispose of some scrap material. It was then that the accused, identified as Nitin and Sudershan, allegedly abducted the girl and gangraped her, the officials said, adding that the duo had fled after their act.
The police had been successful in arresting one of the accused on Tuesday. The second accused, who was initially absconding, has also been nabbed.
After learning of her ordeal, the family members of the girl, accompanied by locals, staged a protest over the matter by blocking the Kishtwar Highway and demanded the arrest of the accused. A medical test was conducted on the girl of which the report is awaited.
