John Abraham has been taken aback by his ex Bipasha Basu going to town that she is single. All this while he felt that as Bips was not talking about the breakup, it was understood that both would maintain a silence on what went wrong. But Johnny boy has taken her outburst even more badly than the split! Ouch!
Who are they?
Prakash Jha is fuming. The Dalit Suraksha Samiti has opposed the casting of Saif Ali Khan as a Dalit in his film Aarakshan as reported ‘Casting ouch’ (Hitlist, May 13). The reason for their opposition was the actor’s royal lineage. Jha states, “The argument of the Dalit Suraksha Samiti is absurd and totally goes against the spirit of freedom and equality. The letter they sent us did not have an address, it only stated that it was from Kanpur. How does one send them a reply without any address? So we thought it best to send them an open letter, and communicate to them through the media. I want them to understand that their opposition to the film is baseless.”
Behind the scenes
Shah Rukh Khan has written a foreword for Anupama Chopra’s forthcoming book on Bollywood First Day First Show. He writes, “She takes us into the lives of the stars, and into the struggles of those who never make it to centre stage; she lets us participate in the making of legendary hits like Sholay and Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge… she shows us the glamour as well as the murky links with the underworld. There is also the odd story of the royal bodyguard of Bhutan who became a scriptwriter; of the embarrassed Pakistani soldiers at Wagah border who could not allow their favourite Indian superstars to shoot.”
