KOLLAM: DCC office-bearers belonging to the ‘I’ group and leaders of front organisations have demanded that  DCC president Kadavoor Sivadasan should resign without further delay taking moral responsibility for the debacle suffered by Congress candidates in Kollam district in the Assembly elections .In a joint statement signed by DCC vice-president Anchal Soman,  treasurer N Chandrasenaan,  general secretaries M V Sasikumar Nair,  Kallada Vijayan, Bindu Krishna,  Kettidathil Sulaiman,  N Jayachandran,  G Prabhakaran  Pillai and KSU district president Arunraj,  said that the DCC presidents in other districts where Congress had suffered setbacks had offered to resign. Theys said Kadavoor and his followers had made the party lethargic in the district. The DCC leadership failed to organise public protest against the LDF ministers.  When the AICC screening committee  released a list of candidates, the local party leadership had started vilification campaign against Ramesh Chennithala. They alleged that Kadavoor and his supporters had tried to blackmail the leaders. When Kadavoor failed to get seat for himself in the name of his community, he had tried to  defeat all candidates. The Congress leaders asked Kadavoor to make clear what he had done with the Rs 3 lakh given to Janashree Mission to mobilise crowd for  the Prime Minister’s meeting.  They pointed out that those who offered to mobilise 2000 people failed to bring even 200. The fund allotted by the AICC and KPCC did not reach the hands of the candidates. Besides, lakhs of rupees were collected from businessmen and others. D Geethakrishnan, Rajendra Prasad, Leelakrishna  and Ayathil Thankappan have also signed the statement.
