Kalakshetra board wants Leela back

CHENNAI: The governing board of the Kalakshetra Foundation on Friday unanimously decided to reinstate Bharatanatyam exponent Leela Samson as its director. It also passed a resolution expressing regret over her resignation.“Recognising and appreciating her visionary leadership of this iconic institution over the last seven years as director, the board unanimously expresses its desire to have her back as director,” said the resolution signed by chairman of the Foundation, Gopalkrishna Gandhi.In a second resolution, the board decided to recommend to the Ministry of Culture to consider modifying the recruitment rules for the post of Director to enable appointment of persons of eminence, ability, standing and experience in the fields of classical or traditional art forms or literature and modify the stipulation with regards to age suitably.
