New Delhi: A man in Kanpur allegedly killed and burnt the body of her 15-year-old daughter with the help of his relatives after the girl refused to marry a man much older to her. The girl's mother had gone to her parent's home at the time of the crime.
She has filed a murder complaint with the police against her husband and five other people for killing her daughter. All the accused are absconding. The incident took place in Kanpur's Birma village.
The accused Shyamji Shukla's wife Sadhna Shukla had on June 2 gone to her parent's home in Dadwapur for his brother's marriage. Her daughter 15-year-old daughter Pinki and 10-year-old son Rahul were at their home with their father. On Tuesday Shyamji Shukla allegedly beat up Pinki after she refused a marriage proposal.
As a result of the brutal beating Pinki died and then Shukla with the help of his relatives took the body outside the village and burnt it in a field. He then locked the home and fled.
Sadhna was informed about the murder by her neighbours after she returned. She went to the police and filed a complaint against her husband and others. She told the police that Pinki used to stay with her maternal uncle in Gaurikaran village and study in a school there. She had come to her parents during summer holidays.
She also alleged that her husband and others were putting pressure on Pinki to get married to a much older man. Both Pinki and Sadhna were against the marriage. So Shyamji, his brother Ramji alias Lala, Ramji's wife Shashi, Kripashankar and Girija Shankar thrashed her daughter and then strangulated her.
They later burnt her body in field outside the village. She claimed that Rahul was an eyewitness to the crime and feared that he too will be killed.
