KC(M) free to join dam stir

KOCHI: Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan on Tuesday said that the Kerala Congress (M), a constituent of the UDF government, had every right to extend support to the agitation called by the Mullaperiyar Samara Samiti. “Every party has the right to stage protests. It is for the Kerala Congress to explain its stance,” he told reporters here.Reiterating that the government stood for a new dam at Mullaperiyar, Radhakrishnan said: “The issue could not be sorted out without discussions. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has already intervened in the matter.” The Kerala Congress (M) had pledged its moral support to Wednesday’s hartal announced by the Samiti.
