A co-operative bank in Kerala has approached the High Court on Monday against the demonetisation scheme of the Central government.
The court has issued notice to the Central governement and Reserve Bank of India on a petition filed by Kalletumkara Service Co-operative Bank.
The petition is filed against Union Finance Ministry, RBI, Regional Office of RBI and the Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Thiruvanathapuram.
The case will be heard on Thursday when the respondents will file their reply.
State Minister for Co-operative, A C Moideen, said the primary co-operative banks should be allowed to conduct transactions.
Moideen further said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and State Finance Minsiter Thomas Issac and have met the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and apprised him of the situation.
"Both will also write a letter to RBI stating the problems faced by the primary co-operative banks. They are not able to conduct transactions and not able to convert all their deposits with the banks," Moideen added.
Moideen also said that all MPs from Kerala will also take up the matter in Parliament.
