WARANGAL: Alleging that the body of a dead person had got exchanged with some other’s during a postmortem at MGM Hospital, his kin had a heated argument with the staff there for nearly two hours on Thursday. However, they relented and took the body with them after another family member identified it to be that of their relative.Mamidisetti Sarangapani (60), a native of Kareemabad on the outskirts of Warangal town, committed suicide by hanging himself in his house on Tuesday. Sarangapani was an alcoholic and his first wife died six years ago.His second wife estranged him and had been living with her two children in Vijayawada by doing labour work.Sarangapani, who had been living singly, gradually, sold away all the things in his house for buying liquor. On Tuesday, he ended his life and police shifted the body to MGM mortuary. Postmortem was held on Wednesday.After this, the body had developed some changes making it difficult for his relatives to identify it.They argued with the staff and refused to take it saying it was that of some other person. Meanwhile, Sarangapani’s second wife reached the hospital and identified the body to be that of her husband.It was only after this that Sarangapani’s relatives took the body with them and performed funeral rites. Mills Colony ASI Basheer said the body had developed changes during the last two days when it was in the mortuary.
