The CM also directed that Singaneri lake in Sunnanthan Melaiyur village, Thanjavur district, be desilted at an expenditure of  Rs 75 lakh.The renovation work would include laying the bank of the lake with an uniform breadth of five metres, rebuilding the sluice gate, setting up an additional sluice gate and desilting the inflow channels.The measure would increase the water storage capacity of the lake and benefit 189 acres of lands in the area, the release added. first published:August 14, 2012, 11:28 ISTlast updated:August 14, 2012, 11:28 IST
