Lalbagh Flower Show Starts Today In Bengaluru. Know Timing, Theme And Entry Fee
After the inauguration, the public will be allowed to take part in various competitions.

The 216th edition of the Lalbagh Flower Show will begin today (August 8) at Bengaluru’s Lalbagh on the occasion of Independence Day. According to Local 18 Karnataka, 32 Lakh flowers will be used for the show. Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the Lalbagh Flower Show on the theme of Life & Times of Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s grandson Bhimrao Yashwant Ambedkar will also participate in the inaugural programme. After the inauguration, the public will be allowed to take part in various competitions, that is Ikebana, vegetable and fruit carving, Pushpa Bharati, and Bonsai, to entertain the visitors.

1. Entry fee

Entrances for the flower show are there at all 4 gates of Lalbagh and cost Rs 80 for adults. Rs 30 is the cost of tickets for the children. School students can enter the venue for free. Flower show will continue from 9 am till 6.30 pm.

2. Security and other arrangements

Necessary security personnel, police officials and home guards have been deployed at Rs 2.80 crore to prevent any untoward accidents in the flower show. This year, 2 types of flowers, foreign and indigenous, have been used and a total of Rs 2.80 crore has been allocated for the flower show.

3. Other details

This time, the Department of Horticulture will conduct a fruit and flower exhibition to provide awareness and information about the life of Dr BR Ambedkar. In this BR Ambedkar’s life, education and achievements will be shown to the public. The photo of the constitution will be decorated with flowers.

4. Total flowers for Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s theme

A total of 7 to 8 lakh flowers are being used for Babasaheb Ambedkar’s theme. The decoration is being done with flowers of foreign varieties from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam, and Jammu. 1.50 lakh flowers have been planted and prepared in Lalbagh Nursery for special decoration. At present the flowers have been harvested.

As reported, in preparation for the event, the Horticulture Department, volunteers, and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) held a strategic meeting to ensure the renowned show remains waste-free.
