Lalu, Mamata, Akhilesh in Mumbai for Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant Wedding

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav arrived in Mumbai on Friday to attend the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.

Lalu Yadav is accompanied by his wife and former chief minister Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi Yadav along with several other family members.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav touched down in Mumbai along with a few leaders from his party.

Indian and global celebrities, business tycoons and politicians have gathered in India’s financial capital to attend the wedding of the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani.

Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani, is marrying Radhika Merchant, who is the daughter of pharmaceutical tycoon Viren Merchant and Shaila Merchant, and is the marketing director for their company, Encore Healthcare. The couple got engaged in a traditional ceremony last January.

The celebrations are taking place at the Ambani-owned Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai and their family home Antila and are the culmination of pre-wedding events that featured performances by popstars, including Rihanna and Justin Bieber.

The four-day wedding celebrations begin with a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony on Friday followed by a grand reception through the weekend. The guest list includes former British prime ministers Tony Blair and Boris Johnson, Saudi Aramco CEO Amin H Nasser, the Kardashians, Adele, Lana Del Rey, Drake and David Beckham, apart from Indian celebrities and sports stars.

Several other notable names from different walks of life are also a part of the celebration. On Thursday, actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas reached Mumbai accompanied by her singer husband Nick Jonas to attend the wedding.

The pre-wedding festivities kickstarted in March in Gujarat’s Jamnagar which witnessed the performances by pop diva Rihanna and the three Khans — Shah Rukh, Salman, and Aamir — along with Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Alia Bhatt.

In June, the celebrations continued overseas when guests embarked on a luxury cruise across Italy and South of France and featured stage acts by the Backstreet Boys, singer Katy Perry and Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.

Singer-songwriter Justin Bieber performed at the ‘sangeet’ ceremony last week in Mumbai.
