Security in Agra has been beefed up ahead of Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to Taj Mahal on Wednesday.
Agra: Security in the city of the Taj Mahal has been beefed up ahead of Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to the 16th century monument on Wednesday afternoon.
The district authorities on Monday carried out preparatory exercises and a full-scale security rehearsal would be carried out Tuesday.
Officials of the Archaeological Society of India (ASI), which looks after the monument, said the Taj Mahal will remain closed to the public for four hours after lunch Wednesday.
Police officials searched hotels and the Buddha Vihar at Chakkipat for any Tibetans who could stage protests during the 45-minute visit of the Chinese president.
