New Delhi: The Hindi film industry is constantly coming up with the stories that venture into small cities and semi-urban areas. The latest film to join the league is director Jaideep Chopra's 'Maazii'. Sumit Nijhawan, who has earlier been seen in Ram Gopal Varma's 'Contract' and Subhash Kapoor's 'Phans Gaye Re Obama', is playing the lead in the film. He throws light on his character, "Maazii is essentially a thriller that travels from the hills of Mussoorie to the plains of western UP."
Nijhawan further says, "Maazii is a story about a couple Tarun and Shrishty who have a near perfect relationship and how an incident changes their lives and raises a lot of question on Tarun's past that is why the film is called Maazii, which means past in Urdu."
"The uniqueness of the narrative, the dialogues and nuanced performances by the entire cast is also wonderfully enhanced by the music pof the film," says Sumit Nijhawan, who also played a pivotal character in Kunal Deshmukh's 'Jannat 2'.
The actor is aware about the value of word-of-mouth publicity for his film, "We have put in our efforts into Maazii and we just want people to watch it and then form an opinion."
Mona Wasu of TV serial 'Mili' fame is playing the female lead in 'Maazii'. The film also features Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, Zakir Hussian, Pankaj Tripathi and Manish Chaudhary.
'Maazii' is scheduled to be released on September 27, 2013.
