BANGALORE: Doctors treating S P Mahantesh, Deputy Director at the Directorate of Cooperative Audit, who was assaulted by unidentified miscreants on Wednesday evening, at Mallige Hospital on Crescent Road, said on Saturday there was no significant improvement in his health. However, his blood pressure has become normal, they stated. According to Administrative Officer of the hospital N Ramesh, Mahantesh’s blood pressure was under control on Friday. “Till yesterday, his BP was controlled by drugs. It is normal and this is an indication of his improvement,” he maintained.A team of neurosurgeons comprising R M Verma, Ravi Gopal Varma and Tarakram Narayan are treating the official. “According to doctors, there is no need for surgery. As the swelling in brain due to severe head injury that he suffered still exists, he is being treated by anti-edema measures and antibiotics, apart from IV fluids. We are now hopeful he will be out of danger soon,” he added.CBI Probe SoughtMeanwhile, Congress leader Mahima Patel who visited the hospital to enquire about Mahantesh’s condition earlier told media persons, “a CBI inquiry into the attack is necessary to bring the culprits to book.”
