Kochi: In a bizarre incident, a Malayalam film and television actor received an unusual slimy gift—a poisonous snake in a box.
The actor, Manu Raj, who went to inaugurate the Arts club and union of the Government Polytechnic college in Ernakulam district, Kerala on Tuesday, was handed out the 'gift' by some students after the function.
Gracefully acknowledging the gift, Manu Raj left the venue. After travelling some distance in his car, he noticed a movement in the packet and opened it and was shocked to find a 30 inch poisonous snake moving about in the gift box.
On seeing the snake, he cried out for help and the driver also panicked and stopped the car. The snake was killed by passers-by. A complaint has been lodged with the police.
A hunt is on for the students who handed over "the gift" to the actor, police said.
