Chennai: Spain's Carlos Moya cruised into the quarter-finals of the Chennai Open beating United States' Kevin Kim 6-4, 6-3 in a match that lasted a little over an hour and twenty minutes.
The fifth seeded Spaniard outclassed Kim, sending eight aces past him and winning crucial break points. Moya has won the Chennai open on two previous occasions.
Earlier, third seed Xavier Malisse of Belgium became the first player to reach the quarter-finals of the Chennai Open.
Malisse, ranked No 37 in the world beat unseeded Italian Stefano Galvani 6-3, 6-2.
Rusty at the start, Malisse took 49 minutes to win the first set 6-3. But he quickly got his act together, winning the second set in just 39 minutes.
