Chennai: In a shocking crime, a man in Chennai brutally beat his father to death.
A long-running domestic squabble between Qadir Mohideen and his father turned fatal to the latter on Saturday evening.
Twenty-six-year-old Qadir had long nursed a grudge against his parents for not getting him married, said neighbours, who had rushed to the house after hearing screams.
Qadir was drunk and had threatened to kill his parents and had started beating his father with a large wooden stick.
The neighbours tried to stop him but failed and called the police. Qadir's father succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
Indicating the spot where it happened, Jaladin, a neighbour said, "We came here and tried to pour water on his face but Qadir stopped us."
Another neighbour, Hussainbhai, said that Qadir and his father used to fight all the time.
"He asked them to sell the house and get him married," Hussainbhai said, adding that his parents had tried getting Qadir married earlier but that did not work out. "They tried telling him to get a job first, but he did not listen to them," said Hussainbhai.
The neighbouring families explained that Qadir's father was a lorry driver and did not earn enough to support another family member.
His parents were, therefore, adamant that Qadir got a job before being married.
