Bangalore: In an alarming incident in Bangalore, a patient was murdered in the private ward of a hospital.

Hosmat hospital woke up to high drama on Thursday morning. A patient, who had been admitted into the hospital after he was involved in a accident was hacked to death in a private ward.

According to sources, a gang of 25 managed to climb the wall and sneak into the hospital premises at around 0300 hours IST and attacked Palani.

CEO Hosmat, Dr Kishore Murthy says, "This has raised concerns on security. All hospitals have increased security after the IISc incident and after this, we are going to have collapsible gates and CCTVs installed."

The gang of murderers left the hospital soon after killing Palani and injuring two of his friends.

The injured persons have been shifted to the Bowring hospital run by the government, where the post-mortem on Palani was also conducted.

The injured men are said to be out of danger now. The Bangalore police suspect that gang rivalry could be the motive behind the murder.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bangalore East, B K Singh, says, "Palaniwas a rowdy-sheeter and people identified in the case are also rowdies. This is a medico-legal case. The hospital had told us that Palani had been admitted there because he has cases against him."

Though the police have sought an explanation from the hospital but are confident that the hospital did not have anything to do with the matter.

Officials at Hosmat say, patients have not been affected by the incident so far.
