CHITTOOR: A petty quarrel between a couple led to a man setting his wife ablaze at Neerugattuvari palli in Madanapalle town on Thursday night.Nagaveni (21), who suffered 75 per cent burns, was battling for life in Madanapalle, hospital.Her husband Mahindra (26) fled after setting her ablaze.According to Madanapalle DSP Ramakrishna Reddy, the couple who are daily wagers quarrelled in the evening when Nagaveni refused to give Rs. 3,000. Both went to the extent of beating each other, but later they sorted out their differences and had dinner together.Around 9 p.m.the couple again started quarrelling and in a fit of a rage Mahindra poured kerosene on Nagaveni and set her ablaze. Hearing her cry for help, neighbours rushed Nagaveni to the hospital.Police registered a case.Search is on for the accused.
